JEE - Joint Entrance Examination
Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE-Main) is an examination organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India. This national level competitive test is for admission to various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the JEE-Main score, mainly National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). This exam is also the eligibility test for JEE advanced which is the entrance exam for admissions to programmes offered by the IITs in India. Only the top 2.45 lakh score holders in JEE Main exam are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced.
The examination consists of only two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./BTech courses and Paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning courses. A candidate can opt for any or both the papers. Paper 1 is mandatorily a computer based test (called Online mode) from 2019.
JEE Main 2023 registration for January session started by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Eligible candidates can fill JEE Main 2023 application form For the JEE Main April 2023 session, registration will begin from March. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2023 will be held in Two Session In January and April. Aspiring candidates are allowed to appear for All of the sessions.
Institutes like the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, and the Indian Institute of Science consider the marks obtained in JEE Advanced as one of the criteria for admission. However, these institutes are not a part of central IIT-JEE Advanced counselling.
National Testing Agency has also announced new Exam Pattern in the JEE Main 2023 exam. JEE Main 2023 comprises of 2 papers; Paper 1 for engineering aspirants and Paper 2 for students seeking admissions in architecture and planning courses. According to the JEE Main 2023 exam pattern, Paper 1 will comprise of multiple choice questions and numerical questions whereas Paper 2 is now separate for B.Arch and B.Plan aspirants. JEE main exam pattern for B.Arch will comprise of objective questions for both Maths and Aptitude, numerical questions for Maths and questions for the drawing section. As per the JEE Main exam pattern 2023 for B.Plan, questions will be asked from Maths and aptitude and there will be an extra section on Planning with multiple choice questions on the same. Paper 1 of JEE Main exam will have 3 subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each section will be given equal weightage with 30 MCQs and 10 numerical questions and total marks for JEE Main 2023 Paper 1 will be 300.
