Master of Education (M.Ed)
Master of Education programs are designed for current educators seeking specialty training and career advancement. These programs offer concentrated studies in sub-fields of education, including administration, curriculum and instruction, literacy, leadership, educational technology or English as a second language.
Master of Education programs train graduates to think critically about education and teaching. Individuals applying to these master's programs are usually required to have a bachelor's degree with previous coursework in education. Most programs additionally require applicants have teaching licensure prior to beginning the program as some concentrations build upon previous teaching experience. Usually graduates have the opportunity to participate in internships and apply the skills learned in the classroom. Coursework in these M.Ed. programs is usually designed to fit around a teacher's schedule.
